Caps Ice Crew
WIHC was honored with an invitation to send 4 of our skaters to serve as Ice Crew for the Capitals / Toronto game on Thursday, March 5. The four quickest players with the send button got to go! Look for Austin Dain, Matt Frazza, Ben Margulies and Bryan Sandt on the ice at Verizon Center. Woodson alumni Jarrod Wronski and Paul Clegg recommended our team to Tim Bronaugh, Caps fan liaison for this opportunity.
Senor Night
WIHC honored our four seniors and their families before the game on Wednesday, February 11 at Mt. Vernon. Graduating this year are Captains Ian Alexander and Tyler Gritis and our starting goalies, Parker Miranda and Michael Sandt. Julia Margulies took charge of this event for the team.
End of Season Party
Our end of the season party is planned for Monday, February 23 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Hard Times Cafe in Fairfax. We'll be meeting in the Cue Room for the festivities. Thanks to Brian Beatson for organizing this event for us.
Calendar Fundraiser
Many thanks to all of Woodson Ice Hockey's families and friends who supported our annual Calendar Fundraiser! Thanks to Carl Loveland for spearheading this event for us.
Exhibition Game at Fairfax Ice Arena
We are pleased to announce that Woodson Ice Hockey has played their first ever exhibition game at Fairfax Ice Arena. This is the first time 2 area high schools have had the opportunity to face each other at a local rink. Many thanks to the owners and staff of Fairfax Ice Arena for making this happen for us! We had a great time!
Jamboree Date Changed
The High School Jamboree date has been changed, it will now be Friday, November 14,2008. The Jamboree is a fun way to kick off the High School hockey season with a round robin of short games, culminating in a Championship game.
Alumni Game
Annual Alumni Game scheduled for December 17 at Mt Vernon ice-rink at 7:15!
2008-2009 Practices
All practices for the
2008 - 2009 season will be on Wednesdays from 7:15 - 8:45 PM at Mt. Vernon
Recreation Center. Practices begin September 17, 2008.
